We are now accepting applications for Table Hostesses

Without our amazing hostesses, we could not create such a fun and successful fundraiser to ensure the arts are continuously supported in Platte City. Each Hostesses is required to purchase a ticket, and to decorate their table and provide place settings for 8. Tables are judged prior to the event starting with prizes for 1st and 2nd place. If you’d like to participate as a Hostess, see more information below.

It’s All about the tables

From Around the World, Downton Abbey, to Broadway, the theme of the Tea changes each year in order to give our Hostesses the most opportunities to show off their table decorating talents.


Table Setting Guidelines for Table Hostesses

2019 Theme:  Tea and A Good Book

As a Hostess, you agree to Purchase a ticket, Decorate, Set and Host a Table for a book title of your choice. Your book must be approved by event organizers.

Provided by Organizers:

60” round table to seat 8

Basic tablecloth for underneath your overlay

Sugar (individual packets)

Goodie Bag to take home (same for all guests)

Clear plastic plates, 1 per person, for their food


Hostesses should provide per table:

Coordinating tablecloth that can be used as an overlay (optional)

Your Good Book name on a sign or display

8 salad size plates

8 tea cups/saucers-optional

8 knives, 8 forks, 8 spoons

8 cloth napkins (napkin ring, optional)

8 water glasses or goblets

No glitter or confetti.

Need per table for serving:

One or Two, 6-8 cup teapot and One water pitcher – both will be labeled with your table number upon your arrival.

If you have been a hostess in the past, you do NOT need this year:  large dinner plates nor tiered server(s) on your table.

Food will be available buffet-style. Tables will be dismissed one at a time.

  • Tables will be released to the buffet line by the emcee. Please wait until your table is announced before joining the line.

  • Please help quiet your guests when the emcee is speaking and during the entertainment.

  • Before the day of the Tea, you will be asked to sign a release waiver for damage to pots, cuts, and utensils.

We plan to have volunteers serve the drinking water and hot tea. (IF there is a shortage of volunteers the hostesses will need to serve their table’s water and tea.

Each hostess will be featured in the Tea program. A picture and a short bio will be requested upon approval of your application.

Again this year tables will be judged. A prize is awarded to 1st and 2nd place (all in fun….enjoy)!

SET-UP TIME BEGINS AT 11:00AM SUNDAY, THE DAY OF THE EVENT

NEED TO BE SET-UP BY 1:30PM  - JUDGING WILL TAKE PLACE AT 2:00PM

We are limited to only 20 tables, once they are taken that’s it! Complete the application to apply to be a Hostess for the 2019 Tea and a Good Book.
